The Mindoro Kabuhayan Foundation, Inc.
The Mindoro Kabuhayan Foundation, Inc. (MKFI), a prime project under the K-4 program , is a brainchild of the Chairman of the Board of the RGV Group of Companies, Congressman and three-term Governor of Oriental Mindoro, the Honorable Rodolfo G. Valencia .

The MKFI was conceived to facilitate technology transfer for livelihood and sustainable income as well as provide entrepreneurs with knowledge to manage and operate workable projects of their interest. In this way, they will be equipped with up-to-date information regarding sources of financing, management and marketing of their products, thus establishing a self-sufficient, productive, well-balanced and responsible citizenry.

RGV Development Corporation, a member-company of the RGV Group, formally launched the Kabuhayan Program on November 8, 1986 in the Municipality of Naujan. Oriental Mindoro.  Its rationale  is to provide livelihood programs, social services and employment while underscoring the concepts of self-help and “bayanihan” or cooperation, making do with available resources which include human resource, existing infrastructure, government and non-government organizations, and private entrepreneurs particularly those in Mindoro.

In cooperation with experts and technical resource persons from both the government and private sector, the Kabuhayan Program introduced Mindoreños to livelihood programs, such as backyard farming and spices, hybrid corn and root crop farming, soap making, handicraft making, meat and fish processing, cattle fattening, goat dispersal and the like. Actively participating in the technology transfer aspect of the program were representatives from government agencies like the Department of Science and Technology, Department of  Trade and Industry, Technology and Livelihood Resource Center, Bagong KKK  and private corporations such as Marigold Commodities Incorporated and San Miguel Corporation.
